This past Sunday was the final re-shoot for Old Scratch. The opening scenes where the cousins recount the story of Tom Walker were lacking and we re-shot those. We chose the scenic views of Alvernia College’s (sorry, University. It was a college when I went there.) outdoor athletic complex. My alma mater had improved it greatly since my commencement in 2001. On a quick side note – where the heck was this stuff when I went there? They have major musical and comedy acts, and students actually stay the weekend!
Anyway, the scenes improved greatly, as did the audio. Bryan, my partner-in-crime has a sweet digital audio recorder that captures sound to an SD card. It’s a G device that he got for a C note. Dude finds good deals. The sound was excellent.
I am waiting for the almost final cut, which Bryan is tackling this week. In the meantime, I trimmed my son’s short down and am working on color correction and audio sweetening. I have Goldwave, which you can use for free, to work on the sound and fix it up. I hope to have that done tomorrow so I can post the DVD and get it ready for Saturday.
I am very excited to see how it turns out. My son is pumped for his film, which opens the Lancaster Area Film Festival. I told him some of the big films that have opened fests like Cannes (Revenge of the Sith and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull for starters) and he got excited. A lot of family and friends are going to come and see both his film and his acting debut in my film.
After the fest, I am taking some down time. I’ve been working on this film three years. I will enter it into a plethora of festivals and I will start work on my friend Ashley’s short film idea, my first action gig (she’s in Old Scratch as the cousin telling the story of Tom Walker). But right away I’m gonna take a rest.
The schedule is posted at LAFF’s website and I’ve uploaded pictures of our sign at Penn Cinemas. And if for some reason you cannot make LAFF, check out our Twitter feed during the fest for info and pics.
