New Year, New Resolutions

I've put off this post for a while, not because I didn't want to write about it, but because I wanted to give it serious thought.

A lot's happened in the past year, mostly personal, that's changed things, to the point where I have to really plan my time for filmmaking. That goes into my resolutions because while I want to challenge myself, things are different now and I want to make sure they are challenging but doable.

Here's what I resolved to do last year. How did that work out?

Only two films got done: my son's AVP Lego homage and Old Scratch. I was able to write something every day, even if it was a sentence or a note to someone. I always wrote something. I've continued that to this day. I have polished one of my features that has gone through my writer's group. I've polished two more but I want to wait until they've had a chance to rip through it before I send it out. LAFF 3 was a success, culminating in Oscar winner God of Love playing.

So what will I do in 2012?

1) Get through production of 2 films
2) Send out 2 scripts to agents
3) Write daily
4) Make LAFF 4 a success
5) Network more

I am about to start working on my friend Ashley's film On The Move. I have a plan to do a small film after that, so this is attainable.

I think all of them can be done, but they are still a challenge. This may seem like little stuff, but given the past year, these will be a challenge, but I am up to it.
